Windows Vista
« on: August 28, 2007, 09:59:08 PM »
Why does microsoft have to bring back windows 2000 in a new box and look.

Vista is one of the worst operating systems, like for once thing trying to connect to internet, it reads it as a virus and locks the computer what gives?

Why doesn't microsoft just pull vista off shelves untill its some what decent

IMO Vista is still in beta.  Microsoft said it had a beta, but really that was just to try and get everyones hardware working (at least somewhat) on release.  I think Vista can be a good OS in a year or two once its not so over protective.

ITs made for the people who break their computer easy, via virus, spyware whatever, which means its way to restrictive for most "advanced users".

I think vista is just XP with a new interface and tighter security.

It's good for people who constantly infest their computer with viruses and spyware.  But I think most of the members of this site are going to stick with XP for a while.

Tighter security is wright! Vista can be a good OS, but considering that its been out for barely a yr, so far programs that should be allowed are always blocked on startup, & drivers for the OS are still a messhole..Like Popsikle said, give it 2yrs & it will hopefully be a good OS..Only thing is that in less than 3-4 They're gonna come out w/ their new OS, similar to Vista

Vista's SP1 is planned for early 2008. That'll only make a slight improvement to what it is now.

You can always turn off the security features you deem unnecessary.

EVE Trinity2 would have been the only reason I would have even CONSIDERED switching to Vista. But now that we know that that will be DX9 compatible, I could give a flying fuq about Vista.

Unreal 3 is the only thing I am concerned about.  Since it uses DX10, does that mean we will need Vista?

Not if you have a xbox 360

or

if you play it on dx9
I think that is possible if you lower graphics.

I'll keep XP for the next two or three years. Or at least until Vista is not a beta, which surely won't be for a while anyway.

I don't have a 360.  I guess I can email the UT folks to make sure it will run on XP.

I wouldn't change my OS for one single game.  If UT3 doesn't run on XP, then they will not be getting my $59.99.  That's the bottom line.  No if's/and's/or's about it.
