[Introduction] Wild Turkey
« on: August 28, 2007, 09:08:43 PM »
Hello from Philly.

Wild Turkey here ... been gamin for a while ... been doing lan parties up and down the east coast for a while too.  Really hip to this idea of a Lan Party coalition.  I am currently a memeber of the G.O.D.S (Gamers of Diverse Strategy) we are a group of gamers and network admins that love gaming just about as much as we love throwing lan parties.  Have been recently working with theGXL out of Millville NJ which has been putting on some pretty big events over the past 5 years.... starting out at 256 the gxl ramped up to 600+.  We have been out of it for a little while throwing small events ,of about 100 people, but are coming back with a medium sized event comming up around the end of october.  Check our site out for more info (www.thegxl.com).  We also have some what of a small grouping /colation of gamers and lan organizers down here in the south jersey area and would love to talk and interact with others that have these general interests.  We currently have enough ports of Cisco ethernet to throw a 600 man lan and such a lan is in the works very soon. We have alot of talent and people willing to help any other lan groups with any type of help that one would need thorwing or planning events.  Please hit us up anytime on either site Lanpartygods.com or thegxl.com.

The one great thing about our setup down here is the enourmous pavilion that provides us with what ever we ever need and more.  The Millville Rescue Squad is a 40,000 square foot bay that can be setup for about 1,000 gamers and has the facilities and power requrements to run such an event.  While having the space and available power the people at the MRS usally rent out the space for very low prices and usally will work with you to get what ever you need for whatever event you have.  I think this is one of the biggest resources that we have down here and it is not exclusivly available to us so DEFINATLY check it out.

Wow that seems like an awesome venue.  More areas need something like that.  Welcome to the site, Ive tagged you as an admin, and hopefully we can call work together on something soon.

AS you can tell, the site is still new, but alot of us are working very hard to give it a good start, and I personally think the idea has a very good potential to provide all of us with some kick ass lans in the future ;)

Welcome to the party. Good to see you guys working with a local EMS agency. I'm a Paramedic up her in NY and find as much interest in the facility you use as what you use it for. :) I'd love to see a place like that up here. Part of our dilemma is finding a place that 1) will allow us to do something for 24 hours straight 2) has the power we need 3) has the space we need. :)

One day maybe I'll try to get down there for a LAN, if not just to visit or to help out. I actually like the whole setup/networking/etc stuff as much as the actual gaming (moreso actually, It's good experience).
