win7 > xp.  Its faster, and more solid then XP was.  And its gui is really easy to use and intuitive.

One thing I'm not too much a fan of in the GUI is the new Quickbar next to the clock. I wish it just slid out and back like the old Windows XP one did. Plus the icons in the Quick Launch area take up too much real estate for my liking, even on smallest size.

Also I've noticed that Win7 likes to lock me out of a lot of directories that I could get into with even Vista. C:\Users\PsiFire\Videos for example is inaccessable/has a lock on the icon. Is there a way to get rid of that?

the icons next to the clock are a bit annoying.. The lock issue, thats normally only for folders owned by other users, or administrator.

Quick launch <3

I only have one user on my machine - ME. Why it locks me out is beyond me. I'll have to fuck around with it in a VM on a second install and see if the behavior is the same.

lol...  I'm running Vista 64-bit and to be honest, I love it.  I have no problems at all (once I tweaked it of course)... ie: turn off the UAC.  I would probably upgrade to Win7 when I get it tho, but only for the performance gain and I'll do a full install, so I'm in no rush for that since the laptop has no issue.  Plush, this is my gaming laptop, so I'm def. not in a rush to install 80GB worth of games again.

Funny that it locks you out of your own folders though.. I'd be interested in knowing what you find out about that.
