CoD4 & X-Fire Issue
« on: June 12, 2009, 08:03:39 AM »
Hey all!

Has anyone had any issues related to CoD4 and X-Fire.  Anytime I join a server that my friend is playing on via x-fire, he gets disconnected and sometimes it lets me in and sometimes it doesn't.  We both have the same version of CoD4, the latest patch 1.7.  I've checked the minor revisions, and they are the same.  There is no firewall running.  The only thing worth noting is that we are playing on a LAN with access to the internet via a Linksys WRT54G router.

I appreciate any suggestions...thanks...

you check your port forwarding and the like? the router MIGHT have an issue as to who is supposed to get what info since you're both requesting virtually the same info.

You're right... I just read this, but solved the issue on Friday after finally finding a helpful article in the CoD4 online help FAQ.  Basically, you need to set the game on each client to request data on a separate port in the 28960 - 28969 range (at least it's what they recommend).  After doing this, no problems at all!

basically, I did this by running the game with options "+set net_port 28961"
