I've been running the 64-bit for the past 3 days. I like it. Nothing amazing, though. I'm not particularly blown away by anything at this point. I just feels like a way more polished vista. I have to say, though, that the new taskbar is pretty sweet.

I was also surprised that pretty much everything worked. Only two items had to be MacGyver's into working: My X-fi sound card (fuck you, creative, and your shitty driver support for an unsupported beta...wait, what?), and Google chrome. Chrome was really simple though. Just had to add -in-process-plugins to the end of the command line.  Only real complaint I have so far is that the ftp that's built in to windows explorer doesn't want to connect to my server. Not sure which end the problem is on at this point though

Thing seems to handle gaming fine, but the only things I ever run are Source, CoD4, and WoW.

tl;dr
Not balls-tickling fantastic, but it seems to be shaping up to be a good OS.

Im excited about it because I can finally use more then 3GB of ram without running vista! It also seems a tad faster then XP which is a huge surprise.

PS. I have never run vista on anything, and i know a lot of people like me.  So alot of the things you guys might consider normal from vista are new to us XP diehards ;)

Yeah, I'm skipping Vista, going right to 7, seems like I'm making the right choice.
On another note, I know this is rather nubby, how do I know if I can do 64-bit?

The problem with 64 bit code that you're going to have will come in the form of driver and software support. I had problems because some of my hardware didn't have 64bit drivers so I went back to 32bit.

I installed it yesterday on my one PC, Removed my Linux drive and replaced it with a another one I had sitting around.

Personally, it sucks, Umm the reason I say this is I opened resource monitor and with nothing running the one svchost [LocalServiceNetworkRestricted] is running at 50% constantly and it's like what.. Hmmm, tried to play a MP3 I copied over, Nope not gonna play, I tried a video I recorded from my PCI Sat card, Nope ain't gonna play, I went into Media Player to the options, Umm, anyone know where they are.

It for me just seems more frustrating then it is learning linux. Like, I dunno, again drivers is also a big thing I guess, and finding them is gonna be a job in it's self.

And yes I am like Pops, an XP User, never touched Vista.

But if 1st impressions is something you can get after a few hour's, well I think I'll delete it and just re-install my linux drive...

But this is my opinion, My Brother likes Vista, but me.. Ehhh I'll stay with Xp
