i think we should start passing around the collection basket now and see where we stand. pop, whats the minimum needed to run the LAN there (room quote and anything else needed)? who should make the PayPal link for the collection?

I think it would be cool to have the goal amount and how close we are to it to insure the LAN's success, as far as throwing it goes. what ever extra we get, we'll just put forward to the next LAN or something. lets ball park the "ticket" price at $20/head for now but paying more would be greatly appreciated! who ever donates gets honorable mention on the forums :p

I'm just gonna walk into LAN and hand pops whatever extra cash I have at the time. But if I'm not mistaken.... it's a 400 minimum? or was it 6... or 8?   Shit I can't remember exactly but I do know it's not worse than 800. No one wants to leave pops paying out of pocket, right? He's the moderator not the only one responsible! Lets make sure he doesn't have to spend money -and- run the dang thing.

Pops you already know I'll be there early to help with the non server hosting details. Try and do anything I can to get my man into more games and not running them.

ALL:   (Please READ this ENTIRE post, thank you)

Let's make the amount $25.  That should ensure that if we only get 20 people, we can still run a LAN as that would cover for a $500 room.  If we get 30 people, that would come to $750 and we can order pizza at night (or something similar).

Do NOT argue over the price, $25 is a good number for an overnight LAN and some fun.  I live about 1.5 hours away from the place and estimated my total cost to be $90 for myself which includes gas, tolls, food, and LAN entrance fee.  This is acceptable to me for 36 hours of entertainment.  If I had gone to Six Flags, it would cost me $200 (I know because that's how much is always costs me).

I also believe that there is a chance that if we do not ask for $25, that we will not get the required amount of money.  Further, if we ask this price and Psi&Pops help set it up or contact me how to proceed, I have no problem fronting a few hundred dollars to get things started so long as I'm under a good impression that I will be able to recollect on my investment.

Psi/Pops,
Can you advise me on how to proceed?  I will make calls or whatever is necessary...  Can we setup a paypal for pre-pay?

First thing we need is the price of the room. I know Popsikle probably went down on the girl at the Ramada so she chopped the price to rediculously low. Then we need to reserve a date and stick to it. The rest is easy. If you built, they will come. (We hope).

If I know Pops then he's unsure of a set price because the turnout may be too poor to cover enough of things.  If I had to come up with a plan that would make sure I didn't get screwed over it would be to say first timers get in for 15 and the veterans can agree that whoever shows up will split the rest of the room evenly between us.

So we have, one, a low cost fun event for new people to be enticed to try out themselves. Two, the bulk of us that support pops and dont want to see him in a financial red zone make sure he doesn't leave the LAN tired, not having time to play many games, -and- poor. Sooo 10 newbies show up we get 150 bucks... the room i think is 400 so say only 10 veterans show up we all pay 25 to make up for it and BOOM! Tough Actin' Tinactin.

Depends on the date. It's less than 2 months away (the date in the title). Was the weekend reserved? If not, it's probably booked already.

The room is reserved already.  I have no idea whats going on with the LAN, if you guys want to have it we can have it but I can not afford to go out of pocket as I am going away with the wifey the next weekend.

so, i think the question is a matter of rounding up the money.

I told GTC yesterday that I would help pay the cost of the room.....as long as it's not too great. What was the cost of the room last time Pop?

We need more than that.

We need a booking confirmation as well as the amount of the room. Plus need to solidify plans and see if Pop is still down for coming, otherwise we need to make servers.

GTC, it's not that easy...  Are you going to be able to build the necessary linux dedicated servers on your spare server?

Also, can someone get in touch with Popsikle to see if he had the room booked and how much it'll cost?

The room was booked way back when. I will call on Monday to confirm it. Room costs $300 per day. Not sure if we have it for one "day" or two.
