WTB: 939 AMD Athlon 64 X2
« on: August 28, 2007, 06:33:13 AM »
I am considering upgrading my system seeing as it is woefully outdated.  I am still running an Athlon 64 3000+.

So I am looking to see if anyone has an Athlon 64 X2 socket 939 they may have remaining after upgrading to something better.

I know I can get an X2 4200+ for around $100, but I am cheap and want to save any money I can.

So if anyone has one, whether 3800+ or 4200+, name your price.

Yeah, thanks.  But I don't see the humor in this.

But is it even worth while to upgrade now, or should I live with what I have until AMD releases the Phenom CPU's with the AM3 socket?

I was thinking of getting the 4200+ X2 and upgrading my GPU from the X800XL to a 8600GTS.

I think your chip is fine, as it should be able to run anything to come for a while.  I would def upgrade the video card first if your motherboard can do pci-x.

I'm in the same boat as you AMD, looking to upgrade my CPU eventually from the 3200+ I have now (I think thats what I have anyways).

Like Popsikle said tho, upgrading your video card will likely gain you a better boost in performance. I have an Nvidia 9800 card that I will likely upgrade to an ATI (can't stand NVidia anymore) but just need to figure out what is good to get.

Hey!  I have an ATi now and it works very well!

Though that might have to do with the fact that I use Omega drivers and not ATi's .
