JANLAN Suggestion/Schedule/Games Megathread
« on: October 20, 2008, 09:20:16 PM »
Well, HL4 is past and now we can think about JANLAN.

The dates for JANLAN are Jan 3rd - Jan 4th.
1.3.09:
11a-12p - Check-in / Open Gaming
12p-4:30p - Tourney #1
4:30p-5p - FOOD!
5p-6p - Open Gaming
6p-10:30p - Tourney #2

1.4.09:
10a-11p - Open Gaming
11p-3p - Tourney #3
3p-7p - Console Tourney #1
5p-6p - FOOD!
6p-11p - Poker Tourney!
6p-11p - ???(for non poker playing fools)

My thoughts on games:
Tourney #1: CS:S or BF2 (team fps game)
Tourney #2: SC2 (solo rts game)
Tourney #3: HL2DM or UT3 (solo fps game)
Console Tourney #1 (smash or soul calibur)

With a schedule like this you cover the bases with types of games people like to play and leave enough room if a tourney goes long.  I did not schedule anything for the overnight but impromptu tourneys or gaming is encouraged, we havent had a full 24 hour LAN in a while either, but I am leaving that up to you guys. I also want a poker tourney because poker is fun and maybe 2 or 3 lucky people will leave with some cash!

Games people should have installed and patched:
CS:S
HL2DM
UT3
TMNF!
TF2
Tron
BF2

What does everyone else think?  I will be posting the date and time and stuff in an official thread in about a week when I finish the flyers.  PSI/AMD can you guys get started on sponsorship?

We've done BF2 and CS:S tourneys before.  I say this time for the team tourney we do TF2.  But thats just my opinion.  Everything sounds good so far.

A lot of people play CS:S still and people are attracted to BF2. I like TF2 but I kinda like CS:S and BF2 better. Maybe I just need to play it more.

i find that too many people in the game make it too hard, resulting in a stalemate which isn't fun and becomes monotonous. there has to be the right balance of people playing.
