Exile LAN VIII Announcement

It has come to our attention that there is another LAN (Showdown LAN) scheduled for the same weekend as ours. Although it may not directly effect us, we try to give our gamers the opportunity to experience every LAN they want to. So we have decided to push back the date of Exile VIII

WHEN: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2008

TIME: NOON TO MIDNIGHT

HOW MUCH: $20

WHERE: HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS, 946 New Loudon Rd (Rt. 9), Latham, NY
(Same location as Lan 7.0)

I know its a bit of a drive. But we put on a good show We are expecting 50+ at this one (goal is 65).


Just a couple of updates.

1. We maybe pushing the LAN back a week . There is another LAN the same weekend as the one we had planned. Showdown LAN in Worester, MA. They are expecting 500 people  

I will post for sure once we hear back from the hotel. However the LAN will still go on. Either the 6th or the 13th.

2. We managed to secure a few more sponsors. Here is a complete list, so Far

Damn son. I like the little handout. Did you guys actually print out a bunch and drop em at local Gamestops?

I cant take the credit on the handout. One of the other guys (Infested) created it.

We started handing these out this past Monday @ a local bar in Albany that was doing a Rock Band tournament.

Gamestop/EB games isnt too LAN party friendly. Awhile back one of the guys asked if they would post one of those in their store & was told they cant. But I might start parking in front of them & hand them out to those leaving

We (Infested & I) are also going to the Showdown LAN in Mass. So we will be passing those out as well.

Best way to get through to the Gamestop/EB guys is to know someone who works there, preferably the manager. Might be best to talk to him either way since in the end, he's the guy who makes the decisions on what goes up and what doesn't. Perhaps make it worth his while like agree to hand out store flyers at the LAN in exchange for them posting a thing in their window or near/on the sales desk. They usually have a ton of freebies that they hand out in store for promos that they might be willing to give you as well.

i think its actually company policy not to put up fliers and such. how ever getting freebies is another story.

Yeah but if anyone is able/willing to "bend" company policy, it's the Manager. If it means drumming up some more business, then I'd be willing to bet (s)he'd do it.

Call the district manager and get their approval.  Thats what I did for HallowLAN

Where did you post flyers for HallowLAN? We should start advertising for that like, NOW. (I can get started if you want - hitting the usual websites.)
