Ubuntu help

I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10.  After hearing lots of good things about it I decided to give it a try.

I am having an issue with the installer.  I am trying to install it on my desktop PC and once I press enter to install Ubuntu my screen goes blank.  It looks like the installer defauts to displaying at 85hz which is not supported by my display. 

Does anyone know how to change the refresh for the installer?

you can install in text mode, by booting with
"linux vga=ask text"

I also tried using a basic CRT monitor to do the install with the same results.  I guess I'll have to try that text install.
