Powerline networking, using the existing powerlines in the house to run internet signal. Anyone's thoughts on it?

It's a poor man's network. I have not tried it nor do I plan to. Real people use Cat6.

Its slow.  Really slow.  Like, the latency sucks. The total speed is allright but the latency sucks.  If you do any gaming, stick with wireless for situations you cant use cat5/6.

three floors you say? put the AP in the middle of your house and buy/make high gain antennae. if you make your own, i suggest a helical antenna. can-tennae might also work if you're in a pinch but you're not going to get the same kind of range as you would with a more formal antenna.
